Scotland offers great opportunities for enjoying the great outdoors. This week we asked Ian from “Do it Outdoors” about some of the activities he runs.
Hi Ian, Can you tell us a little about what you do and how “Do It Outdoors” got started?
I spent too many years in IT commuting to Glasgow wondering how to make a career in the outdoors, I dropped down to three days a week and then with half a plan I took voluntary redundancy.
I have always been an outdoorsman, enjoying hillwalking, mountain biking, fishing and camping and was sure there was a way to work at what I love . That was 10yrs ago and now I spend much of my time working in a small patch of woods by Auchterarder doing what i love. It has taken a number of iterations/transformations but i have arrived in a good place.
What can people expect from the “Do It Outdoors” experience?
At Do It Outdoors we specialise in quality experiences delivered in a beautiful woodland setting. Our customers are typically family groups or couples at this time of year looking for an inclusive activity. The most popular activity is a combination of Axe Throwing and Archery which is an hour and a half. We have kids from 7yrs old and grannies up to 80yrs competing. Our archery includes a number of fun competitions , shooting at balloons, bottles and soft toys.
Second most popular is the Survivalist Session which is great to learn and relax and cook over a fire. It’s perfect for spending quality time with your kids.
This years Mix and Match sessions are providing perfect for tailoring your experience.
Also becoming popular are the Fly Fishing lessons for beginners at Orchil Fishery.

The taking in fresh forest air is very uplifting and the activities help people understand our close connection with the land.. Your hard pushed to find anyone leaving the forest with anything other than a smile.
