Happy Valentine’s Day – the day of kindness and love! It is a special time to show our loved ones how much we appreciate them. Despite the current circumstances, there is always a way to celebrate St Valentine’s Day at home! Here are some interesting ideas:
1.Poetry and tales
One unconventional way to celebrate this holiday is to learn more about it! Immerse yourself in poetry or old tales of love. We have shared with you 3 Scottish Tales of Love and Romance, however, there are so many more! Do you have a favourite old love story?
2. Stargaze
The sky is typically so much clearer during the winter, the perfect time to stargaze! If you have a garden, even better because you can watch the stars more easily. And it is an interesting alternative to watching a movie or your favourite show. You could also see a shooting star if you are lucky!
How to do it? Visit Scotland shares their guide on how to stargaze in Scotland.
3. Cook a favourite meal or order your favourite food
Have you enhanced your cooking skills during the lockdown? Now would be a great time to try out new recipes or perfect the old favourites. There aren’t really any typical dishes for this holiday, however, there is nothing wrong with making it extra special, such as making a three-course meal! You can also order in as many restaurants are offering take-out services for your special night-in. Check out one of your great local restaurants!
4. Plan for the future
One nice way to spend your time would be to plan for the future, making plans that you can look forward to! This could include a trip you have always wanted to make together or an activity you have always wanted to try. Even just going for a walk or hiking in a nearby area counts if it inspires you! This will help with the time to pass by more quickly, it will give you more time to prepare if needed and also, it gives you a big reason to be excited about the future!
This could work as a lovely gift as well! We offer gift vouchers for couples holidays as well, so that might give you an idea for a gift if you haven’t figured out anything yet!
