This September a variety of artists and craftspeople will welcome visitors into their studios for a closer look at their work and process. This annual event has become more popular each year and this year will feature over 200 artists at 141 venues across Perthshire. Some of the works on display include ceramics, jewellery, photography and painting. As well as the workshops, which give you an opportunity to talk with the artists, many of the items are also on sale (making for a fantastic souvenir from your stay). With so many fantastic things to see, it can be hard knowing where to start. Fortunately, you can find a handy “Perthshire Open Studios” guide at many local information centres as well as online. The locations are split into nine colour-coded routes, making it easy to explore what is on display. Each route covers a different area of Perthshire, with the Green Route covering Comrie, Crieff and Killin, and the Plum Route taking you from Callander to Auchterarder.
Now in its 11th year, the “Perthshire Open Studios” is a wonderful chance to see local creatives at work and take home some truly unique art. See the landscapes and communities that inspire their works and enjoy a friendly chat with the artists themselves.
