The sun does not always shine in Scotland, everybody knows that. That is why you need to make the most of those bright summer days, and we have just the thing for you. Queen Elizabeth Forest Park, near Aberfoyle, is the perfect place for a relaxing day to reconnect with nature. Get away from busy streets and everyday worries, get in the car and head to the Three Lochs Forest Drive.
We started our journey in Callander, then headed towards Aberfoyle and the Duke’s Pass. The Duke’s Pass was built in the 19th century by the Duke of Montrose, in order to improve access to his estate. Today it is a public road that links Aberfoyle and Loch Katrine, and it has some of the most scenic views in the Trossachs National Park. After a quick stop at The Lodge Visitor Centre to admire the scenery, we drove towards the entrance to the Three Lochs Forest Drive. This 7 mile route will help you get away from loud, busy streets, and enjoy the peaceful surroundings as you drive through the woods between Lochan Reòidhte, Loch Drunkie and Loch Achray.
There are five main walking trails of varying difficulty along the route, all providing breath-taking views of the surrounding hills. Fishing permits are also available from the Lodge Visitor Centre.
