Festival season has officially begun all over Scotland, and so far we have been blessed with fantastic weather. So while we impatiently wait for this year’s biggest events, why not look back at those which officially marked the beginning of summer in our area?
During what was one of the hottest bank holidays of the last couple of years, a big crowd of locals and tourists gathered together to enjoy some live music and mouth-watering food. On Saturday, May 26th we drove to Strathyre for the sixth edition of the Balvaig Music Festival. This small community always manages to create a warm and friendly atmosphere thanks to attractions for people of all ages: with a variety of stalls, activities and performers, the Festival Market Place kept the public entertained all afternoon. At the same time, the main festival stage (located by Broch Café) hosted local musicians such as Mid Town Riot, Papa Shandy & The Drams and Mudslide.
The following day we decided to check out what has been described as “Scotland’s most spectacularly-located festival”: situated on the banks of Loch Voil, Mhor Festival has it all – stunning scenery, delicious food, great live music and fun activities for everyone. From paintball games to archery and trapeze classes, from fashion shows to cocktail workshops, every member of the family can be satisfied with the entertainment, and those who need a break from their intense schedule can simply buy a refreshing ice cream cone and sunbathe on the grass.
The magical thing about festivals is that for a few days they can take you to another world, even if you are actually only a few miles from home. So if you missed these events last month, do not make the same mistake next year!
