Heat and sunshine seem to have left Scotland once more, but the riders who attended Cream O’ the Croft festival last Saturday need more than a little rain to be discouraged.
We were not sure what to expect when we arrived, but despite their soaked clothes and dripping hair, everyone seemed to be making the most out of of the situation. The guests might have been unable to picnic and sunbathe on the grass, but the event certainly did not lack entertainment. While mountain bikers rode through the muddy hills, their families enjoyed all the indoor activities available: a bouncy castle for the kids, a bar for their parents, silent disco and circus workshops for everyone! All while savouring delicious burgers, ice creams, and even some paella.
The Farm Shop opened its doors and provided fresh local foods, a variety of stalls displayed their different products (from clothing to jewellery to sports and activities), while the Saltire Steel Band took care of the music. The happiest faces were those of the little ones, of course: we all remember the joy of wearing colourful wellies and jumping into puddles, don’t we? Out in the fields, the most popular attraction among the children was of course the giant water slide, and as soon as the sky cleared up, tours of the Magical Fairy Trail took place in the woods surrounding the venue.
Cream O’ The Croft truly has something for everyone. The perfect place for adventurous families.
