The 2018 Edinburgh’s International Science Festival this year will run from 31 March – 15 April and promises to be an experience like no other.
Edinburgh International Science Festival, founded in 1989, is an educational charity that aims to inspire people of all ages and backgrounds to discover the world around them. They are best known for organising Edinburgh’s annual Science Festival which is the world’s first public celebration of science and technology and still one of Europe’s largest.
The two-week festival gives audiences amazing experiences through a diverse programme of innovative events. Alongside the annual festival in Edinburgh, the organisation has a strong focus on education and runs a touring programme that visits schools around Scotland throughout the year.
Edinburgh International Science Festival also operates a large-scale international programme of work. It regularly presents events overseas and is currently the Major Programming Partner of the annual Abu Dhabi Science Festival, helping to curate, produce and deliver the event. For international partners, the team at Edinburgh International Science Festival provides engaging content, curatorial advice on programming and business planning support, along with expert staff and training for local science communicators.

Existence: Life and Beyond is a celebration of the wonder and diversity of life on earth.
With an awe-inspiring, record- breaking sculpture at its centre, this family-friendly interactive exhibition takes you on a fascinating guided journey from the origins of life through to the future, asking some big questions along the way: What is life? Where has it come from? Is it unique to earth? Where is it going next?
The story of how life came to be and of humanity’s role in nurturing, protecting and even enhancing it, EXISTENCE: Life and Beyond takes you to the outer reaches of life as we know it.
The organiser’s don’t guarantee to have all the answers but they are promising you a lively event like no other.
EXISTENCE: Life and Beyond has been produced by the Edinburgh International Science Festival in partnership with its Youth Consultation Group. Following a Co-Design approach, young people are a driving force in shaping, developing and implementing all events for the Year of Young People 2018.
