May usually marks the beginning of festival season. Unfortunately, due to current events May 2020 will be a little quieter than usual… but that does not mean you cannot party from home! There are numerous virtual events taking place this month, you just need to pick your favourites, gather the family together, and get ready to join these fun activities.
Sports and Fundraisers
Some of you may have taken part in the Race for Life in the past – one of the most popular fundraising events country-wide. This year, Cancer Research UK is proposing a #RaceForLifeAtHome, an opportunity to raise money by sharing your favourite home workouts. What will it be? A limbo competition with your partner, jump rope, or a 5k run? Similarly, Etape Caledonia was also transformed into a virtual event to raise funds for the NHS and Marie Curie during these difficult times. The Pitlochry-based cycling event is now encouraging its regular attendees to cycle 85k throughout the month of May, in their own time, following their own routes, and for as long as they are comfortable. Are you up for the challenge?
Quizzes
If you are missing all those fun nights at the pub with your friends, with quizzes and live entertainment, you will be glad to know there are online alternatives. If you would like to join scheduled events while also supporting a good cause, check out virtualquizevents.com. You will find a wide range of quizzes to pick from every night, organised by different individuals, charities, and organisations. If you’d rather host your own party and invite you friends, try myquiz.org. Pick one of the many ready-made quizzes, share the code with your friends, and may the best man win! To make it even more fun, we suggest a group video call to get that full pub experience from your own couch.
Music and live events
Have you heard of GigsInScotland.com? Usually sharing information about all upcoming concerts around the country, they have now added a fun new section dedicated to music events you can enjoy from home – and more! They have an Emoji Quiz, social media sing-alongs, and Virtual gigs by your favourite world-famous stars. Did you miss the live event? No worries, you can find YouTube videos of all the events on their website. You can also follow them on social media for live updates, events and more entertaining activities!
