St. Patrick’s Day is just around the corner and it is making us crave a cold, refreshing pint. So here is an idea for your Scottish holiday… why not book a tour of one (or more) of the local breweries, only a short drive from our cottages? Or simply look for their delicious craft beers in local shops and pubs?
Stirlingshire
Black Wolf Brewery, Stirling
This award-winning brewery unfortunately does not provide tours, but thanks to their online shop, their wide range of products can be delivered straight to your doorstep.
Allanwater Brewhouse, Bridge of Allan
Visit this brewery in Bridge of Allan to sample a variety of different craft beers, and experience one of the five tours available to the public. More information on their website.
Fallen Brewing, Kippen
No tours available at Fallen Brewing, built in a scenic spot in the former Kippen Railway Station. However, check out the “find our beers” section on their website: your local shop or pub might sell their delicious products.
Williams Bros. Brewing, Alloa
Take a virtual tour of this local brewery through the immersive descriptions of their brewing process on their website. Did you know that aside from their full range of beers, the online shop is also stocked with great merchandise and gift ideas?
Harviestoun Brewery, Alva
Keep an eye on Harviestoun’s Facebook page for upcoming events all over the country! If you cannot make it, no need to worry: their famous Schiehallion (awarded World’s Best Pilsner) can easily be found in most local pubs. Call or email for information about tours and brewery visits.
Perthshire
The Innis & Gunn Brewery, Perth
While their brewery in Perth is not open for tours, you can get the full Innis & Gunn experience by visiting one of their brewery taprooms. Located in Dundee, Edinburgh and Glasgow, these are the only places that offer the full range of craft beers.
Dalrannoch Brewing Company, Meikleour
Contact the friendly staff at Dalrannoch and ask about brewery visits. There are no set tours, but they will happily show you around during opening hours. Check out the “stockists” page on their website: there is a high chance you will be able to taste their great products at a pub near you.
