An extremely rare opportunity to see inside Bannockburn House, Prince Charlie’s residence in 1746, will be offered very soon. Never before open to the public on such a scale tours will take place on Saturday 30 September 2017 to Sunday 1 October 2017
Bannockburn House was built in the late 17th Century, and for the History Live weekend, part of the History Live events, visitors are offered a chance to see inside this unique property.
In 1746, before the Battle of Falkirk, it was the 2nd Baronet who entertained Charles Edward Stuart in Bannockburn House, where he met the Baronet’s niece, Clementina Walkinshaw, who would later become his lover and mother of his child.
Come and enjoy a costumed tour of this sleeping beauty of a mansion.
Both adult and children-led tours will take you through rooms that have changed little in the past centuries.
Tours will last approximately 20 minutes and refreshments will be available.
Parking is available in nearby Corbie Wood from where a regular shuttle bus will operate. The site has restricted access, so no public parking will be available at the house itself.

Bannockburn House is located just outside of Stirling and a regular hop on hop off bus service is available to get from Stirling to Bannockburn House.
If you are here staying in one of our self-catering holiday cottages at the end of September why not give some thought to visiting this interesting building not normally open to the public.
