Celebrate the summer season with The Black Watch Castle and Museum’s annual summer festival on Sunday 27th August between 10am and 4.00 pm. Enjoy a jam packed blend of kids’ gallery tours, trench tales, re-enactors, face painting, soldier’s stories, family crafts, marching drills, dressing up and cookie decorating. The day also brings a delicious BBQ in the Castle grounds and a colourful mix of live music including choir performances, Pipes and Drums and a local Ceilidh band.
While all events are free following admission we have a few events that we suggest pre-booking as they can be very popular.
Kid’s Gallery Tours
Listen to fascinating stories and solve cunning riddles in order to discover the amazing artefacts that have been hidden around the museum. As you journey on your quest keep your eyes open for the First World War solider and his nurse companion who may be wandering around the galleries looking for recruits.
Each session is approximately 20 minutes with starting times below:
10.30am; 11.00am; 11.30am; 1.00pm; 1.30pm; 2.00pm; 2.30pm; 3.00pm
Trench Tales
Go back in time to the terrible trenches of the First World War. Meet with an old Black Watch Soldier and hear his tales of life on the Front Line.
Each session is approximately 20 minutes with starting times below:
10.45am, 11.15am, 11.45am, 1.15pm, 1.45pm, 2.15pm, 2.45pm
