Longer Days
It’s that time of year where the days are longer and warmer. Now that the period of hibernation is over, this gives the perfect opportunity to explore more of Scotland after hiding away during the winter! With the weather being sunnier for longer, there are various places to visit and fun activities to embark on with loved ones. If going for a family holidays with kids, why not visit the Auchingarrich Wildlife Park in Comrie or Blair Drummond Safari Park, just outside of Stirling. The Auchingarrich Wildlife Park has plenty of fun activities to keep your little ones entertained as there are 40 different species of animals – all with their own certain charm. It’s the perfect place to learn about different species. Blair Drummond Safari Park has plenty of fun ways of interacting with the animals such as the Safari drive-thru all from the safety of your car. You can also get up close and personal with rhinos, antelope, camels, the lion pride and monkeys in the macaque section.
More Time Outdoors
With the weather being warmer, this gives you the chance to soak in the vitamin D. Additionally, the Spring season is the ideal chance to watch the flowers bloom and to reconnect with nature! If looking to admire the beautiful flowers that grow this season, you can visit the various gardens that are part of Scotland’s Gardens Scheme. Scotland’s Gardens Scheme features a fantastic selection of open gardens across the country that raise money for hundreds of charities! Some examples of the breath-taking gardens include Winton Castle, Inchmill Cottage, Cambo Spring Plant & Garden Market and Braco Castle. There are also a plethora of outdoor activities to participate in to embrace more of nature! Examples include visiting Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park which offers a diverse range of breath-taking landscapes, wildlife habitats and communities to explore alongside walking and cycling routes offered by the Sustrans National Cycle Network.
Celebrate Easter & Easter Holiday
A great thing about Spring is looking forward to Easter and egg hunts. Easter egg hunts are considered a traditional Easter activity where chocolate eggs are hidden for kids to find. Fun fact – Easter eggs are used to represent new life and rebirth! Hosting an Easter egg hunt can be a fun activity to host for your little ones. The Easter holidays are also a perfect time for a break with the kids. Some great activities and places to visit include the Loch Lomond Sea Life Aquarium, located at Loch Lomond Shores, Balloch; the Go Country Adventure Park in Loch Lomond & Trossachs National Park; The Ochil Hills Woodland Park located between Alva and Tillicoultry; and iconic landmarks such as The National Wallace Monument in Stirling and The White Church in Comrie.
