We have made a post about what going on holiday in each season would be like. If you aren’t convinced yet, here are our reasons why going on a holiday during the off-peak seasons is an amazing idea!
1. More Availability
The summer is a great time to go on holiday in Scotland, however, you would have to book it way in advance, or compromise with the place or time you stay in due to availability. With the pandemic, this has become an even more difficult task. The colder months are usually less booked so you would most certainly be able to find the holiday home you like the most, in the town you would like to explore on the dates you choose. This is an amazing advantage, especially if you have a very busy schedule and it is difficult to take time off.
2. Great for short relaxing trips
If you are looking for just a short weekend getaway or a holiday within a short distance, this is the best time of the year to do just that. It is quieter than the summer holidays, which would mean easier access to the restaurants or activities you have wanted to try. It is a great time of the year for walking, cycling and hiking trips as well. You would also be able to try out new activities you have never had time for before! Have a look at Visit Scotland’s website for more things you could try out during this time of the year.
3. Cost-effective holidays
If you are on a budget, this is one of the best times of the year to explore the areas you have always wanted to! It is also a great time for couples to enjoy a relaxing holiday away from the city without the crowds. Another idea is to meet with family and friends you have not seeing for a long time. Most activities you would like to take part in during the summer are actually available in Autumn as well. Have a look at which events are taking place in the town you like to visit the most.
4. Beautiful scenery
Colder months come with completely different scenery than what you might have gotten used to in the summer. Being in nature during this time of the year is a great experience so make sure you have a camera with you to capture the moment! Not to mention the beautiful sky views on the colder nights. In most rural spots across Central Scotland, you would be able to enjoy stargazing. Consider having a look at which wild animals you would be able to spot as that would be an unforgettable experience.
