About The Byre

The Byre is a spacious 4 bedroom house nestled in a secluded spot alongside the River Balvaig in the heart of the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park. With generous riverside grounds (with its own fishing rights), abundant wildlife and stunning views it provides an ideal spot for family and friends to enjoy everything that the National Park has to offer whether that be walking, fishing, golfing, photography, cycling, skiing, climbing or just exploring the Park’s varied natural, historical and cultural heritage.

NOTE: Groups of under 25s will not be permitted to stay. One member of the party must be over 25 and will be responsible for the group.

Full Amenities

ACCESS

Access to the house is via a single track road which links the villages of Strathyre and Balquhidder. Parking is available directly outside the house and there is level access.

OUTSIDE

The Byre is situated in a peaceful spot alongside the River Balvaig in the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park. The surrounding countryside provide ideal opportunities for those who love nature and enjoy outdoor pursuits such as hill walking, cycling or fishing, with access to several munros and the National Cycle Network nearby. Red Squirrels and many different types of birds are regular visitors to the house and, if you are lucky, you will see deer, badgers, kingfishers, pine martens and otters from the kitchen.

DOWNSTAIRS

The entrance hall welcomes guests into the house from where access is gained to a large family lounge with wood burning stove, a 50inch Smart TV & DVD/Blu Ray player and three leather sofas and two armchairs. A large selection of DVDs and Blu Ray discs are available to view during your stay. WiFi is available.

Also leading off from the entrance hall is the large kitchen and dining area featuring a dining table, breakfast island, two sofas and a wall mounted 40 inch smart television as well as all the integrated appliances, cupboards and worktop spaces guests will need. A utility room is adjoined to the kitchen and has a washing machine and separate dryer, coat rack and more cupboard and worktop space. A  WC is also off the entrance hall.

Also downstairs is a generous double bedroom with king size bed, sofa, large inbuilt wardrobe and a small table. Ensuite facilities are also provided for this bedroom with a walk in shower and toilet and basin.

UPSTAIRS

Upstairs there are a further three bedrooms and an additional bathroom with shower and bath. The master bedroom has a king sized bed, matching storage units and a large wardrobe. Another bedroom has a double bed, seating and more wardrobe space. The final bedroom has two single beds and futons to provide seating.

This spacious house is ideal for family and friends to comfortably congregate and socialise. The house is heated using two methods; downstairs the heating is oil fired underfloor heating; Upstairs the heating is provided by wall mounted radiators. The house is double glazed throughout. A travel cot and high chair are available for guests with a child under 2.

NEARBY
Local amenities include a village shop, post office and several bars/ restaurants in Strathyre. There is also the Broch Cafe where you can enjoy a hot drink. There is a village shop and restaurants in Lochearnhead. Further afield there are small supermarkets in Kilin and Callander and a selection of things to do.
