The Boathouse is one of the earliest holiday homes we listed on Cooper Cottages, and has proved to be a popular place to stay for families, groups and even couples to spend a relaxing break at the western end of Loch Earn.
Open all year the property sleeps a maximum of 8 with low occupancy discounts available for 4 or less from November to March.
The open plan kitchen, dining, lounge area with opening French doors onto the decked area makes this a fantastic social space.
From the front of the Boathouse you can experience the spectacular views of Loch Earn towards St Fillans with views of Edinample Castle and Glen opposite. From the large picture window of the master bedroom on the second floor you can also enjoy these views. There is also a twin en-suite bedroom on the second floor. On the third floor which is open plan there is a king size bed and twin singles.
From the banks of the Boathouse you can fish. Guests with boats can also launch from the slipway next door (additional fee) and make use of the mooring directly outside the Boathouse. You may prefer to just sit and enjoy the activity on the Loch with water skiing, sailing, and canoeing all popular activities in the summer months. You may also be lucky enough to see the Osprey fishing too.
There are two local restaurants within walking distance with a wider choice a short drive away. The Village shop and post office are a short walk away.
Our local St Fillans golf club welcomes visitors, you have a good choice of courses at Killin, Comrie, Callander too. If you enjoy walking or cycling the access to the route 7 national cycle path is at Lochearnhead, this section of the route is called the Rob Roy Way. For the more adventurous our closest Munro is Ben Vorlich starting on the South Loch Road, Lochearnhead, or you may like to try Ben More or Ben Lawers a short drive away.
Lochearnhead is conveniently located for exploring the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park. There are numerous historical sites to visit and annual events held throughout the park. Lochearnhead hosts the Blackface sheep shearing competition and the Highland Games. There is also the Balvaig Music Festival and Mhor Festival held locally at Strathyre and Balquhidder.
This winter we saw a lot of snow in Lochearnhead (and across Scotland). The owner was good enough to provide us with a few photos taken with a drone camera of The Boathouse and surrounding area. The house looks magnificent in every season and these pictures show off the location to great effect.
