National Galleries Scotland are delighted to announce that their acquisition of Sir Edwin Landseer’s The Monarch of the Glen has won Art Fund Acquisition of the Year. The iconic painting was voted the nation’s favourite acquisition of the year from a list of 10 highlighted works of art from a total of 80 works that Art Fund helped UK museums buy in 2017.
8,000 people voted for their favourite acquisition of 2017 in a poll hosted by Art Fund, with Landseer’s famous stag taking 20% of the vote. National Galleries Scotland thank you for all your support!
The Monarch of the Glen is now on tour across Scotland, and is currently on show at Perth Museum and Art Gallery until 14 January 2018.
