About St. Ola
This former Shepherds cottage is a characterful terraced holiday home on three levels, offering a great base for exploring the National Park and surrounding area. The property is great for families with a king size bedroom, double bedroom and single bedroom. There is a spacious family bathroom with bath and downstairs a cosy lounge with dining area and kitchen. St. Ola is dog friendly with a large enclosed garden to the rear and many walks on your doorstep. The village has a shop, post office and three eating/drinking places.
The comfortable lounge features an open fire and a welcome basket of logs is provided. The lounge has a television, DVD player with a selection of DVD’s, and board games. The property is heated throughout with oil central eating.
The Kitchen is well equipped with Microwave, Kettle, Toaster, blender, coffee maker, oven and electric hob. From the dining area you can access the large 200ft rear enclosed garden with a seating area. There is a gate at the top of the garden giving access to the forest.
The extra spacious family bathroom with a large double ended bath and separate shower is on the second floor. There is also a separate toilet downstairs off the hallway. Both bathrooms have underfloor heating.
On the second floor you will find the King size bedroom with a walk-in wardrobe. From the window of this room you have stunning views of Ben Sheann.
There are two rooms on the third floor, one double room and one single room. All bed linen and towels are provided.
Parking is available at the front of the property or on the village carpark opposite. The Village of Strathyre benefits from three eating places and bars. The Munro, The Ben Sheann and the White Stag all offer a friendly welcome to visitors. The Broch Café at the end of the village is a great place to get a cake and coffee or enjoy a game of petanque. There is also a newsagent, shop and post office in the village.
Strathyre has its own Tennis / Basketball court a short walk from the holiday cottage. Look out for the art installations that form part of the BLiSS trail in the village. There are also a number of walks that start from Strathyre. These include a walk up Ben Sheann, along the Route 7 cycle path south with views over Loch Lubnaig or north to Balquhidder. Balquhidder Kirk is the resting place of infamous outlaw Rob Roy MacGregor. To the rear of the Kirk is a great waterfall and you can continue up the hill to Creag an Tuirc, the ancient rallying place of Clan MacLaren. Drive down the Glen to Loch Voil and Doine to enjoy the Balquhidder Braes. Further afield, enjoy the village of Killin and the Falls of Dochart. Loch Earn attracts anglers and boating enthusiasts.
