About Glenvarloch

Glenvarloch is a dog friendly luxury vaulted oak-beamed property, located in the village of Strathyre in the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park. The house offers flexible open plan accommodation across two floors linked by a spiral staircase and large double -height glass atrium.  It’s suitable for outdoor activity enthusiasts, family reunions, and urban escapees alike.

Boasting over 180 square metres of floor space and sleeping up to 8 people in four bedrooms, the property provides the perfect base to explore the stunning countryside, cycle the C7 cycleway right on your doorstep, or to sit back in the large garden area and relax with views of the mountains and into the adjacent woodlands.

“Thank you very much we have had a lovely holiday here. What a great house and a fantastic area to explore.  Lots of great walks, cycling routes, and the dog has loved going in the river nearby.  The kids have had a fab time here, we would love to come back.” – Fyfe Family, October 2020

“Thank you for another wonderful week in this gorgeous house.  After our 7th week here it feels like a second home.  We feel recharged and ready to face real life back home.  This time we revisited The Crannog and tried the Battle of Bannockburn Exhibition.  We did some lovely walks near Aberfoyle including Noon Hill and the Fairy Tree.” – Heap Family, October 2020

“Very comfortable even with a family of 6.  Had great fun exploring Scotland, and we were swimming in the Loch Lubnaig and the river.  Thanks you for creating this lovely space.” – Cross/Waters Families, August 2020

Other Information

The gravelled drive leads to ample space to park up to three vehicles and there is a set down area and a ramp for easy access to the house. Outside the front door is a seating area for up to 8 people equipped with garden furniture. There are other benches around the garden area.

On the ground floor there is a double-height atrium and the generous space includes three separate dining areas and a large, fully-equipped kitchen with central island  – perfect for entertaining. The kitchen equipped with a large American fridge, dishwasher and double oven leads through to the utility room with washing machine, extra fridge and dryer.

On this floor is a separate area with two bedrooms; one double and one with twin beds along with a separate and spacious double power shower and toilet. This section also has its own external door.

Up the spiral staircase, the mezzanine is designed to make full use of the atrium with a minstrels’ gallery and oak balustrade that connects the lounge area to the rest of the open-plan living space.

On this floor there are two bedrooms: A king-sized master bedroom with an en suite and television that opens onto a Juliet balcony and the panoramic views of the mountains that encompass the village.  Off the lounge area is a double bedroom that has a king sized sofa bed but also can function as a separate work area. It houses an extensive library and games collection.

Strathyre has its own Tennis / Basketball court a short walk from the holiday cottage. Look out for the art installations that form part of the BLiSS trail in the village. There are also a number of walks that start from Strathyre. These include a walk up Ben Sheann, along the Route 7 cycle path south with views over Loch Lubnaig or north to Balquhidder. Balquhidder Kirk is the resting place of infamous outlaw Rob Roy MacGregor. To the rear of the Kirk is a great waterfall and you can continue up the hill to Creag an Tuirc, the ancient rallying place of Clan MacLaren. Drive down the Glen to Loch Voil and Doine to enjoy the Balquhidder Braes. Further afield, enjoy the village of Killin and the Falls of Dochart. Loch Earn attracts anglers and boating enthusiasts.
